Reflection Community Service UN day
On October 21, there was a special day called UN day in our school.
On that day E every students were required to wear traditional clothes of other countries
The community service club was planning to open booth. The booth was for informing students about the environment. All community members were there for the booth presentation.
I was in charge of one booth. There were three parts of booth. One was for the information about the worl pollution and what causes the bad effect on the environment. Second part was for game. The rule of the game was putting the right photo of trash into the right trash can. Students were required the knowledge of the trash that can be recycled. Those knowledges were told at the very first booth among the three.
For me, my job was to tell the students the rule of the game and look at the students putting the photos of trash into the right place of trash cans that they are belong to. If those photos were not put into the right trash can I had to fix it and tell the students it should be placed into the right one.
This required to have certain knowledge of the environment and trash or any stuff people throw away. For example, which is possible to be recycle and which kinds of tray causes bad environmental effect.
Preparing for the booth was not the hard job compare to the part that I had to explain to students about the booth and the purpose of the game. Explaining the game to the low school students was not an easy job. I had to keep on asking them if they were understand or not.
Plus, I had to make the sentences simpler. No grammar mistakes were allowed for me since I was explaining the booth and representing the booth.
Talking in front many people was not that hard also. I tried not to be shy before them but i could not do it at the very first time. However, as people come and pass my booth with the knowledge about recycling and the trash I felt something proud. I could see myself talking and explaining things much faster in simplest sentences so everyone could understand at once.
After all, I felt much comfortable when I talked to group of people than the very first time.
This community service activity gave me another chance to develop my English skills and the self confidence to talk before group of people. Another thing I earned from this activity was about the recycling and it's process. Moreover, knowing about the stuff I see everyday was an interesting thing.

PEP raly relfection
Sep. 22 / 2011
Preparing for the PEP raly was such a challenge. Being a house leader was not an easy job.
Well, I felt so proud of our house even though we got into 3rd place because I saw what our house members
did and practiced for the PEP raly.
Preparing for the PEP raly was not easy. For our house, the Yellow, we made spears using the
bamboo sticks. With yellow house teachers' help we, the leaders, were able to finish making spears and plus the cheers. I was in the charge of all the intermediates in the Yellow house. At the beginning of house meetings, I could not even know their names and who are in the intermediates. However, every time the Yellow house had several meetings, I started to know who are yellow house members.
For PEP raly, house leaders had to prepare the dance moves for our performance. This actually, gave me
the challenge since all the leaders should be prepared and show the moves before the others. Karl who was
a leader in the yellow house had to teach us, the leaders, so we could teach other members. As one house leader for intermediates, I had to inform all the other intermediate dancers to come for meetings and practices and show them the steps. We even had to meet on the weekends for the dances. Teaching and leading one
group of people started to bring out the leadership from myself.
For the cheers, all the house leaders should go infornt and shout out the cheers. Shouting infornt of people
made me feel bit shy but during the PEP raly games, I was the one who felt so energetic and ran infront of others yelling out the yellow house cheers.
Today was the actual PEP raly performance day. We did our best and showed the great cheers. I do not
regret for spending so much of my time for PEP raly because everyone in the yellow house also spent their times for the PEP raly. This PEP raly is my last PEP. because this year is my last year for Brent School.
PEP raly gave me a great experience and taught me about leadership.

Volleyball manager -continue- Reflection
On Saturday, our school volleyball team had games against other schools' volleyball team.
This was my first time to be in the actual games. Becuase of that, I felt really excited about it.
7:30 in the morning, I had to be at the gym to check the attendance for our team members.
Since, there were four other teams, my job as a manager, I had to be in the charge of scoring and
checking for players who had made the point or had mistakes.
By looking at the games, I naturally understand the game's rule and which player had made the mistakes.
Before, I become the manager of the volleyball team, I did not know how the games goes and works.
However, after I became the charge of scoring and checking point makers, I even did not have to look at the referees to score the points.
During the game, I even had one player from UC got injured. I suddenly thought of getting the ice from the office. I knew this right away since Anton Ku from our school was also injured during the volleyball practice. Being a manager for our school team gave me the experience.
Games for our school, I had to make the charts that have all the players' names. This was to check the players who made the scores and mistakes. Checking players and scoring was such a hard job. I did not know the time could pass that fast.
Even though our school team got into 3rd, I saw their practices and effort during school days. I felt very proud of our school team. Moreover, to me, they are already in the top.
Watching at the practices and their effort was a big experience to me. Being a manager is not a easy job but have to be very responsible and able to calculate players ability.
This tournament gave me an impression and great experience.

PEP raly
Activity: Planning PEP raly by leading house members as a responsible house leader.
Goals: Being not active in front of others and not telling my own thought to others are my weaknesses.
I want to improve myself from this by having a presentation of dancing moves that I will plan.
Also, since there are activities that are only for house leaders, I can learn how to collaborate
with others.
During PEP raly. I want to show myself to others, not being shy, by dancing working before
other all house members. This will also develope my leadership
Impact: I will learn how to work with others and get over my weakness by showing myself in front of
others. Also, showing leadership

Reflection: Soccer varsity team
All that soccer practices made me very tired. To be honestly, it was so hard to keep up two things which were soccer and studying. The day when I had a soccer practice, I could not stay up late to do my school
homeworks.
However, I really wanted to join in the varsity team since grade 10. The one way that helped me to get over the tiredness was sleeping. This may sounds really obvious but it worked. I always went home right after the soccer practice and had a nap for 1 hour. This 1 hour of sleeping was the energy source.
I found out that I could get more energy by sleeping when I am really tired than sleeping when I am not that tired.
To be in the soccer varsity team, I always went to the practice even though there were rainy days. This try out for the varsity team was a new kind of challenge for me because I did not like sports that much and this was my first time of my life to try out to become the varsity member.
Soccer practices gave me great lessons about working together with others. Soccer is not a sport that can be played by one person but with 11 members. I learnt how to communicate with other members.
One important thing that I felt is that there is no language wall in the soccer. Simply, it is not true that a
player cannot communicate with other language speaking students. What I observed was that members
already know what other members will act by showing some body languages or even by looking at the eyes. This activity taught me how to communicate in the soccer. Also, it helped me to read some of the members minds.
Practicing almost every days in a week truely brough me strong physical strength. I could not even run for 2 laps at the first day of the practice but after few weeks I could see myself running with others in the same pace.
After all, I was able to see my name on the varisty member list! I still cannot forget the moment when
I saw my name and the feeling of achieving something that I wanted to have by my own effort.
I think this activity taught me how to work with others and the passion to achieve goals.

Reflection: Teaching young Korean children at a public school as a sub teacher.
Teaching for 10 hours a day was very tough thing. Since I never knew how it is like to be a teacher, I
did not expect this activity would make me tired.
The most difficult thing for me was standing for almost all the classes. Usually, in Korea, teachers at school have classes before the class students using chalk board. Due to this teachers could not have
classes on a chair. As a teacher's aide, I had to stand also and look for students who could not understand their lessons and explain them in Korean.
I noticed that being a teacher requires a strong body. Just after I was done with this activity, I really
had some time for thinking of my attitude at Brent Baguio. In the school where I helped had at least
30 students in one class. There are some students who were disturbing others and tries to joke around with their classmates. With those students, it was such a tired job to keep them quiet and tell them to stop bothering others. I believe this activity gave me a lesson about views from others' side.
Being a teacher was not that easy as I thought. They required strong body, skill to control the mind and having a wide heart. Through this activity, I learnt the feelings of being a teacher and a skill to think with different views not only from mine

Activity:
-Volley ball manager
Goal:
-I wanted to be the volley ball manager because I wanted to know and feel how is it like to be a manger of one team. Thus, I think I can learn the responsibility by managing a team.
Rather than just being a usless manager, I want to be someone useful for the team. More than getting water or checking attendance, I rather want to be become a manager who watches every players and look at their
ability.
Through all these activities I am sure that I will know why there are so many of managers in the other national sports teams.
